Incoryorating feedib k from a number of parties, including kennel owners, neighbors, and the State veterinarian, the proposed ordinance would: 1) Amend the City's barking dog ordinance to provide clarification as to what constitutes an offense, with separate standards for different times of day, 2) Create a kennel ordinance to supplement State law, width provisions limiting the number of dogs allowed, providing standards for inspections, and outlining criteria for denial, suspension, of revocation of licenses; and 3) Provide additional penalties and remedies for violations. As this ordinance has already been W the Government Operations Committee several times, it Is on the agenda for First Reading only. Ordinance, Amending Chapter 65, Animals, of the Cade of the City of Bangor, to Include Provisions Relating to Kennels WHEREAS, the Improper keeping of animals and kennels within City of Bangor may lead to health and sanitation problems and pose a danger or nuisance to the public; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bangor finds that implementation and enforcement of these new provisions will help protect the health, safety, and welfare of g citizens of Bangor; and WHEREAS, these provisions are enacted pursuant to the authority granted by Title ], Section 3950 antl TRIe 30-A, Section 3001 of the Maine Revised Statutes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED By THE CRY COUNCIL OF THE CRY OF BANGOR THAT Chapter 65 of the Code of the City of Bangor be amended as follows: ARTICLE 1, Dog Animal Control § 65-1.
