Responsible Department City Manager As a result of the State School Consolidation taw, the City must hold a school budget validatlon election following the approval of the Scrod Budget by the School Committee and the City Council. In accordance with State law, this election must be held within 30 days of the final Council approval and prior to the beginning of the nextfiscal year on July 1^. For consistency purposes the City always schedules this election to coincide with the June primary and state election date, in the event that one was scheduled, If approved, Me attached order will set the election data for June 14, 2011, and the form of the validation question, which is set by state statute. ORDERED, THAT the City Clerk is hereby directed to Prepare the necessary warrants and ballots for a Special Municipal Election to be held on June 14, 2011 for the purpose of validating the Fiscal Year 2012 school budget. Said warrant shall be issued by Council Chair Palmer, acting on behalf of the City Council; and BE IT FURTHER ORDERED THAT The quesbon to be submitted W the voters shall be in the following form: "Do you favor approving the Bangor School Department budget for the uproming school year that was adapted at the latest regional school unit budget meeting and that includes locally raised funds that exceed the required local contribution as described in the Essential Programs and Services Funding Act? Yes No A YES vote allows additional funds W be raised for K-12 public education.
