Since 1900, this posl0on has became a model for community policing In the region and has been an Important resource for the community in deterring crime. If approved, the order will authorize a $45,000 contract between the City and the Bangor Housing Authority for the provision of a liaison officer to work with the Housing Authority in the Capehart neighborfmod. This item was reviewed by the Finance Committee on May 2, 2011, and has been unanimously recommended to the full council. ORDER, Authorizing the Execution of a Contract Between the City of Bangor and Bangor Housing Authority - Housing Authority Liaison Officer By the Ory Couml oftlte sty ofaiarrgor ORDERED, WHEREAS, Bangor Housing Authority wishes to continue the practice of the City providing one full-time police aficer to serve as a Housing Authority Liaison Officer; am WHEREAS, this long standing arrangement has proven beneficial W both the Housing Authority and the City; and WHEREAS, Mis arrangement has served as a model for other areas of the country as a excellent example of cooperation between agencies and community policing efforts; and WHEREAS, the Housing Authority will compensate the City for the base salary of an officer; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BANGOR CIN COUNCIL THAT: the City Manager Is hereby authorized m execute a contact with Bangor Housing Authority to provide a Housing Authority Liaison Officer.
