COUNCIL Item No. .I.A U6 Date: November 22, 2010 item/Subject: Order, Accepting Funds in the Amount of $1,000 from The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation for Installation of New Community Organization Signs Responsible Department: Public Works Cmn,nentaw: Bonnie Titcomb Lewis, Director of Advancement for the Mitchell Institute in Portland contacted Dana Wardwell, Director of Public Works regarding appearanc2 improvements m the Community Organization signs located Main St., State St., Broadway, Union St., and outer Hammond St. This Order would accept $1,000 from The Stephen and Tabitha Kong Foundation for the installation of five new signs by Public Works. At the wish of the olher Civic Organizations, such as Kiwanis and the Rotary International, Public Worl¢ would make and install their new signs at a rate of $22 each. A memorandum from the Public Works Director provides further details. This project has been reviewed with the Infrastructure Committee. Under these signs are smaller signs of the organizations such as Khamis and Rotary International. Bonnie Titcomb Lewis, Director of Advancement for the Mitchell Institute in Portland, contacted me about improving the appearance of these show as a community improvement project. She is working with a volunteer group from Reagan. I informed bet 1 did not have funding for this project but could include it under above current requests for next year. She contacted me a few days later to inform me she had secured finning for the $1,000 dollars to replace the five signs from Stephen and 1 abitha King. With your approval Public Works will install the new signs for $1,000. Bonnie and her group will contact the Civic Organizations and inform them that Public Works will make new signs and install for $22 each If they wish to update their signs.
