October28,2010
Dear Members of the Infrastructure Committee,
At five locations entering the city, Main St, State St, Broadway, Union St. and outer Hammond
St. more are signs stating "These Civic Organizations Are Proud to Serve the Citizens of Bangor".
Under these signs are smaller signs of the organizations such as Khamis and Rotary International.
Bonnie Titcomb Lewis, Director of Advancement for the Mitchell Institute in Portland,
contacted me about improving the appearance of these show as a community improvement project. She
is working with a volunteer group from Reagan. I informed bet 1 did not have funding for this project
but could include it under above current requests for next year. She contacted me a few days later to
inform me she had secured finning for the $1,000 dollars to replace the five signs from Stephen and
1 abitha King. With your approval Public Works will install the new signs for $1,000. Bonnie and her
group will contact the Civic Organizations and inform them that Public Works will make new signs
and install for $22 each If they wish to update their signs.
Sincerely Yours,
Dana Wardwell
Public Works Director
