Item/Subject ORDINANCE, Amending Parking Schedule %, Off -Street Parking Lots, to Change
Aber Lot from 30 Minute Parking to Parking By Permit and Pay for Time Used, and
Parking Schedule VI, Parking for Persons with Disabilities
Responsible Department: Community& Economic Development
There are 22 regular spaces and I handicap parking spare in the Atler Lot on Harlow Street across from the
Federal Building. The lot is currently timed for 30 minutes. Nowthatthe Post Office has vacated the building,
30 minutes does not meet the demand for longer stays at the offices remaining in the building. It is the
Downtown Parking Advisory Committees recommendation that these spaces be used as permit and coin box
parking. Not only will this provide the City with an additional parking revenue source, but it will also Provide
an altema0ve site for those displaced by the Federal Builtling renovation construction.
The recommended rates for the coin box rates are the same as the other coin box lots: $ .50 per hour for
the first four hours and $1.00 per hour thereafter. The recommended monthly rate is $55.00 per month.
This price would put it between Abbott Square ($63.00 per month) and Lower Abbott/Haynes Court
($52.00 per month).
