Item No, 11 300
Date: October 12.2011
item/Subject: Amending Employment Agreement Between the City of Bangor and
Jeffrey A. Cammack
Responsible Department Legal
This Order will amend the Employment Agreement between the City of Bangor and
Jeffery A. Cammack, Fire Chlef, signed in 1996 and amended in 2003.
In 1996, the City entered into an employment agreement with Jeffery Cammack to
serve as the Bangor Fire Chief. The original employment agreement Contained an
obscure provision that required the Chief to retain ownership of a rental property in
Bangor or make an annual payment to the City if he sold the property. This Order will
remove that provision of the Contract and replace it with a provision contained in other
department head's contracts that states that in the event that the Chief should sell his
current home, he is to establish residency in Bangor.
Secondarily, in 2003, the agreement was amended to provide for an annual car
allowance. In 2007, the City Manager provided the Chief with an assigned vehicle which
he accepted in lieu of a stipend. This Order amends the Contract to remove the car
allowance and provide the Fire Chief with an assigned vehicle.
This was discussed in Executive Session with the Council on September 26, 2011.
