Dommenrary:
This plan addresses the wintertime Public Works Operations for ice and snow control on
City roads and streets, public parking lots and sidewalks. It also identifies essential
community services provided for winter emergevcies, Police and Fire Department
operations and Baas park and School coordination.
The purpose of the plan is to present a rational and organized approach to the snow and
ice control measures used throughout the City and provide the Council and residents with
a blueprint of the operations necessary In maintain the curtain levels of service being
provided by the Public Works DepurtmeaL
This document will also serve as a training aid for Public Works employees to insure
consistercy of operation regardless of the employee assigned to a task.

ORDERED,
THAT a Winter Operations Plan for the Public Works Department, a copy of
which is available at the Office of the Operations and Maintenance Division of the Department of
Public Services, is hereby adopted;. and
BE ff FURTHER ORDERED, THAT:
The City Councilors of the City of Bangor adopt the following statements of
policy regarding winter snow, and ice clearing operations.
1) Not withs lending the circumstances wvalved with climatic conditions, the City
will endeavor to keep City roads and dedipared walkways in a reasonably safe
condition for travelers; and
2) City employees will endeavor to exercise reasonable care and diligence in Ne
perfomtance of their duties, consistent with the intent of the current City of
Bangor's Public Works Winter Operations Plan; and
3) Travelers who use City roads and designated walkways are expsteA to
demonstrate due care and reasonable caution, especially under adverse winter
conditions.
