RECOGNIZING JANE BRAGG AND IVY CLEAR-FORREST OF BANGOR BALLET ON THE
OCCASION OF THEIR RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Bangor Ballet was founded in 1994 at the Thomas School of Dance, the company's
home and official training school; and
WHEREAS, Jane Bragg was the owner and operator of Thomas School of Dance from 1983 to 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Jane Bragg and Ivy Clear-Forrest co-founded Bangor Ballet in 1994 as the organization's
Executive Director and Artistic Director, respectively; and
• WHEREAS, Jane and Ivy have played an integral role in Bangor's evolution into a hub for the arts
and creative endeavors for 22 years, through performance, education, and outreach,
with a reach that extended not only throughout the state of Maine but internationally
through cultural exchange programs; and
WHEREAS, Jane and Ivy are retiring from Bangor Ballet after 22 years of dedicated service to the
art of ballet, their students, and the community of Bangor at large.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph M. Baldacci, Mayor of the City of Bangor, on behalf of the City
Council, and the citizens of Bangor, do hereby recognize Jane Bragg and Ivy Clear-Forrest for their
indelible contributions to our community on the occasion of their retirement from the Bangor Ballet.
Given this the 12th day of December, 2016.
