RECOGNIZING PAUL BUSSIERE FOR HIS R2D2 CHARITABLE WORK
WHEREAS, Paul, an avid "Star Wars" fan, has spent years building a 43 inch tall aluminum
version of R2D2 from scratch at his home, as part of an international club of
enthusiastic fans called Astromech; and
WHEREAS, the mission of Paul's R2D2 replica is to bring smiles to the faces of fans, of all ages,
who love the"Star Wars"droid; and
WHEREAS, Paul has used his talents to educate children at numerous elementary schools on the
• skills necessary to build a droid such as R2D2; and
WHEREAS, he has made other countless appearances with R2D2 at various charity events,
fundraisers, and hospitals around the region in an effort to cheer folks up, particularly
those battling terminal illnesses; and
WHEREAS, Paul recently teamed up with Thing in the Moment Photography by Jeff Kirlin to raise
over $500 for Spruce Run and the Children's Miracle Network at the "Star Wars: The
Force Awakens"premier weekend at a local movie theater; and
WHEREAS, we appreciate all of Paul's support, effort, and appearances with R2D2 to the benefit
of others.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sean Faircloth, Mayor of the City of Bangor, on behalf of the City
Council and the citizens of Bangor, do hereby recognize Paul Bussiere for his talent and charitable
work in the Greater Bangor Area with his R2D2 replica.
Given this the 28rd day of December, 2015.
