HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-02-15 17-078 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 17-078 Date: February 13, 2017 Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Apply for a Drug Free Communities Mentoring Grant from the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Responsible Department: Public Health and Community Services Commentary: This order would authorize the City Manager to apply for a two-year grant from the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to implement Drug Free Communities mentoring. The City of Bangor Public Health Advisory Board's Substance Abuse Task Force, with staff support from Public Health and Community Services, would mentor a substance abuse prevention coalition in Piscataquis County. The total grant amount is $150,000. The amount for the first year is $75,000, to be shared between the City of Bangor and the sub recipient fiscal agent for the Piscataquis County coalition. The term of the first year is September 30, 2017 to September 29, 2018. This item was reviewed and approved at the 2-6-17 Government Operations Committee meeting.
