The current process requires medical providers to determine their patient's location before sending a referral. This MOU will establish a protocol for accepting and sending referrals to the appropriate resource. No monies will be exchanged and all HIPPA privacy protocols will be employed. Bangor will be the pilot location for this effort and will evaluate the effectiveness of this change in structure; Portland, Lewiston and Down East will follow. The agreement can be revoked or amended at any time at the request of either party.
