Date: September 24, 2012
Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating a $27,942 Grant from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency Urban Waters Small Grant Program
Responsible Department: Finance
Commentary:
The City was recently notified that it has been awarded a 319 Grant from the Maine
DEP for a Non -Point Source Water Pollution Control Project (NPS) funded by the US EPA
for its Sucker Brook.
The project is a cooperative partnership between the City of Bangor and Town of
Hampden which will allow the communities to gather preliminary information necessary
for developing the comprehensive watershed management plan for Sucker Brook,
conduct outreach and education, and ultimately guide the implementation of non -point
source pollution reduction costs targeted at restoring Sucker brook. The project match
will be met through in-kind staff time and stakeholder participation.
The attached resolve will appropriate the grant funds.
