HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-09-10 12-305 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 12-305 Date: September 10, 2012 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the Execution of a Grant Application to the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration Responsible Department: Community and Economic Development Commentary: The City of Bangor currently leases a hanger located at 189 Odlin Road at Bangor International Airport to C & L Aerospace. The City wishes to renovate the hanger to build a paint booth facility to be utilized by a tenant. The United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) will consider a request from the City of Bangor for a grant to pay for some of the cost of said renovations. The request included the filing of an application with the EDA for the funds. This Order, if approved, will authorize the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to apply for and accept the grant. EDA requirements for funding include that the City Council take public comment prior to final action. ORDER, Authorizing the Execution of a Grant Application to the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration WHEREAS, the City of Bangor desires to construct renovations to a hanger at the Bangor International Airport located at 189 Odlin Road for a purpose of building a paint booth facility to be utilized by a tenant; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) will consider a request from the City of Bangor for a grant to pay for some of the cost of said renovations; and WHEREAS, the City of Bangor is required to file a written application with the EDA for the funds; and WHEREAS, EDA requirements for funding include that the City Council take public comment on the City's application. Conlow, City Manager of the City of Bangor, is hereby authorized by the City Council of the City of Bangor, on behalf of the citizens of Bangor, to execute any and all documents required by the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration to apply for and accept a grant for the purpose of renovations to City of Bangor property at 189 Odlin Road, Bangor International Airport.
