Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing Execution of a Contract in the amount of
$101,937.00 to H.P. Fairfield for the Purchase of a Snow blower
Responsible Department: Fleet Maintenance
Commentary: On August 6, 2012, the Government Operations Committee reviewed a
recommendation from staff to purchase a new Loader mounted snow blower from H.P. Fairfield
in the amount of $101,937.00. This recommendation was based on the City's ability to
"piggyback" on a recent State of Maine competitive bid. The ability to acquire this equipment
under that bid expires August 10, 2012. The manufacturer will hold the pricing until the 15th of
August to accommodate the City's interest. The pricing obtained by the State of Maine includes
what amounts to a discount of over $18,000.00, and nearly a $40,000 savings from the FY 13
budgeted amount. The contract award recommendation must be reviewed and approved by
the City Council as it is over $100,000.00.
The Government Operations Committee unanimously recommended approval on August 6th.
