Item No. 12-236
Date: July 9, 2012
Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the execution of a lease renewal between the City of Bangor and
the State of Maine, Department of Public Safety for storage space within Building 464,
at Bangor International Airport.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary:
This Order authorizes the execution of a lease renewal between the City of Bangor and the State of
Maine, Department of Public Safety. In December of 2006, the Bangor City Council approved a lease
agreement between the City of Bangor and the State's Department of Public Safety office for storage
space for a response and criminal investigation vehicle. The Department of Public Safety office was
experiencing difficulties in locating adequate storage space required for this unit, which allowed for 24/7
access. This three (3) year agreement outlined a lease of 216 square feet of storage space for a portion
of a building (hangar) located at 464 Montana Avenue, at a monthly lease rate of $100.00. The lease
was renewed for another three year term in 2009.
The Airport was recently contacted by the Department of Public Safety requesting to extend the lease for
a two year term through October 2014. Given very difficult State budget constraints, their office
requested no increase to the current lease rate. This lease agreement has been reviewed and approved
by City Legal.
