HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-07-09 12-234 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 12-234 Date: July 9, 2012 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the execution of a contract between Irving Oil, Inc. and the City of Bangor for a fuel supply agreement at Bangor International Airport. Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: Since September 2009, Irving Oil, Inc. has been the supplier of jet fuel to the Bangor International Airport customers, with the initial three year term of the agreement due to expire on August 31, 2012. The supply agreement allows for the automatic renewal for up to three (3) successive three (3) year terms. Throughout the initial 3 year term, Irving Oil has been a positive partner for jet fuel supply to the Airport. They have been very reliable with supplying the Airport with quality product. The proximity of the Irving refinery allows them to be extremely price competitive in our market and they have been active in pursuing and assisting with establishing new business to our Airport. This Order will authorize a renewal contract between Irving Oil, Inc and the City of Bangor with similar terms and conditions outlined in current agreement. This renewal contract will be reviewed and approved by City Legal. Anthony P. WHEREAS, The City of Bangor owns and operates the Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, Bangor International Airport and Irving Oil, Inc. are interested in renewing the current fuel supply agreement; and WHEREAS, Since September 2009, Irving Oil, Inc. has been the supplier of jet fuel to the Bangor International Airport customers; and WHEREAS, The initial term of the supply agreement expires on August 31, 2012 and allows for the renewal for up to three (3) successive three (3) year terms; and WHEREAS, Throughout the initial 3 year term, Irving Oil has been a positive partner for jet fuel supply to the Airport and they have been very reliable with supplying the Airport with quality product; and WHEREAS, it would be advantageious to both parties to renew this agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, That The City Manager is authorized to execute a contract between Irving Oil, Inc. and the City of Bangor for a fuel supply agreement at Bangor International Airport.
