HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-07-23 12-245 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 12-245 Date: July 23, 2012 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing Execution of a Contract in the Amount of $174,020 to Nortrax for the Purchase of a Grader Responsible Department: Fleet Maintenance Commentary: On July 16, 2012, the Finance Committee reviewed a recommendation from staff to purchase a grader from Nortrax in the amount of $174,020 (purchase price less trade-in value). This recommendation was based upon the City's ability to "piggyback" on a recent State of Maine competitive bid. The ability to acquire this equipment under the State of Maine bid expires at the end of July. The pricing obtained by the State of Maine includes a 33% discount, which exceeds the normal municipal discount of 21%. The contract will result in the execution of a lease/purchase contract with annual payments of $37,543, which is within the budgeted appropriation of $39,900. The contract award recommendation must be reviewed approved by the City Council as it is over $100,000.
