Item No. 12-1
Date: May 30, 2012
Item/Subject: ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 134, General Assistance, of the Code of the
City of Bangor, to Comply with State Law
Responsible Department: Health and Community Services
Commentary:
Recent changes to state statutes regarding General Assistance require the City to conform its
own ordinances to those changes. The changes include a reduction in the maximum levels of
assistance to 90% of the level previously in effect, and a limitation on the amount of housing
assistance provided to nine months between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013, with certain
exceptions.
The proposed Ordinance would incorporate the state statute changes into the City Code.
