The City will receive $748,313 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds a reduction of $188,683 from last year. In addition, we estimate that approximately $250,000 will be available in program income, primarily as a result of repayments of outstanding property rehabilitation loans. Among the projects to be funded in the coming year are: social services at the City's Park Woods project ($69,400); property rehabilitation ($276,995); acquisition of land ($150,000) [which includes $50,000 for the lot for a new playground], and playground equipment for new park on Dillingham Street ($55,000). Also included are funds to create a "local" extension of the Neighborhood Stabilization Project (NSP) ($125,000) and funds for demolition and clearance activities ($120,000). The Business & Economic Development Committee held two public hearings at their meetings on March 7 and May 9. After the second public hearing, the Committee recommended that the program be adopted as outlined in this Order.
