Item No. S
Date: 5114/2012
Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $4,575,633 in Grant Funds from the Federal
Aviation Administration and $127,101 in Grant Funds from the Maine Department of Transportation
under the Airport Improvement Program Project #55.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary: The Airport is requesting authorization to accept and appropriate a grant in the
amount of $4,575,633 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $127,101 from the Maine
Department of Transportation for the re -construction of the General Aviation Aircraft Parking Apron. This
is the aircraft parking area located at the airport's General Aviation area. The area still has the original
pavement constructed by the military and it has exceeded its useful life expectancy.
This project is included in the airport's FAA approved five-year capital improvement plan. The plan
originally scheduled the construction to begin last year however, given the lack of FAA Federal funding
due to continuing resolutions, the airport had to delay this project. The FAA now has been fully funded
through 2015. This grant will fund 90% of the cost of the project with an additional 2.5% coming from
the State of Maine and 7.5% from the Airport.
