Item No. 12 093
Date: 2-27-11
Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective
Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and IAFF Local 772,
Representing Certain Employees of the Fire Department
Responsible Department: Executive
commentary: Labor negotiations with the Fire Department employees have resulted in a
Tentative Agreement between the City and the IAFF, Local 772. This agreement follows the
expiration of the most recent contract which ended in June 2011. Essentially, the new
contract is a one-year extension of the current contract. The parties agreed to change dates
in the contract in several locations and to include the most recent health insurance rates,
which became effective on January 1st. Otherwise the terms and conditions included in the
previous three-year contract will continue forward through June 30, 2012.
The Union has recently voted to ratify the one-year tentative agreement. The agreement was
reached within the bargaining guidelines previously established by the City Council, and the
Council reviewed the proposed agreement in Executive Session on January 13th. The
agreement is presented with the recommendation of the Management Negotiating Committee
and City Manager.
