The Penobscot Theatre Company has submitted an application for funding of $25,000 in partial support of the spring production of "Ink" and supplemental programming. Grant funds will support a World Premiere spring production of "Ink" by Alice van Buren, which was first included in Penobscot Theatre's Northern Writes New Play Festival, and additional public programs involving community partnerships with the Bangor Public Library, the University of Maine, the Penobscot Indian Nation and Passamaquoddy Tribe and local schools to increase artistic access, as well as public understanding and appreciation of this work, its historic context and current relevance.
