HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-01-23 12-065 RESOLVECOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 12 065 Date: January 23, 2012 Item/Subject: Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $61,000 in Assistance to Firefighters Grant Funds for the Installation of an Interconnected Fire Alarm System for Central Fire Responsible Department: Fire Department Commentary: The City of Bangor has been notified that it has been awarded $54,900 in Assistance to Firefighter Grant funding for the purchase and installation of an automated fire alarm system for Central Fire Station. Central Fire Station is the last station that does not have an interconnected smoke detector and automated fire alarm system. In accordance with the terms of the Grant Award, the City will provide ten percent of the project cost, or $6,100 as matching funds. The matching funds will be appropriated from the Fire Department Reserve Fund. This has been reviewed and unanimously recommended for approval by the Government Operations Committee on January 10, 2012. Resolve, Accepting and Appropriating $61,000 in Assistance to Firefighters Grant Funds for the Installation of an Interconnected Fire Alarm System for Central Fire, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR: BE IT RESOLVED, THAT an Assistance to Firefighters Act Grant in the total amount of $61,000 is hereby accepted and appropriated as follows: $54,900 (90%) Grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security 6,100 (10%) Matching funds from the Fire Department Reserve Fund $61,000 Said funds shall be used to purchase and install an automated fire alarm system for Central Fire Station. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT the Finance Director shall establish such accounts necessary to properly account for the funding and its use.
