HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-09-08 14-299 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 14-299 Date: September 8, 2014 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing Execution of Municipal Quitclaim Deeds — Real Estate Located at 20 Highland Court - Map 32, Lot 38; 88 Sidney Street - Map 25, Lot 109; 90 Sidney Street - Map 25, Lot 110; 173 Broadway - Map 48, Lot 13; 174 Essex Street, Map 48, Lot 166; and 267 Pine Street, Map 47, Lot 44-A Responsible Department: Legal Commentary: Real estate tax liens matured on the properties of Edward Shaw located at 20 Highland Court, 88 Sidney Street, 90 Sidney Street, 173 Broadway, 174 Essex Street, and 267 Pine Street. Mr. Shaw is in the process of selling three of these properties. All outstanding charges due the City will be paid at the time of closing. There are no code issues. Because the liens matured, municipal quitclaim deeds are required to release the City's interests in the properties. The quitclaim deeds will not be recorded with the Penobscot Registry of Deeds until all charges have been paid. Staff recommends approval. ORDERED, Deborah A. Cyr, Finance Director, is hereby authorized and directed, on behalf of the City of Bangor, to execute Municipal Quitclaim Deeds releasing any interest the City may have by virtue of undischarged real estate tax liens in the properties at 20 Highland Court, 88 Sidney Street, 90 Sidney Street, 173 Broadway, 174 Essex Street, and 267 Pine Street. Said deeds shall be directed to Edward Shaw in a form or forms approved by the City Solicitor or Assistant City Solicitor.
