HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-08-11 14-255 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 14-255 Date: August 11, 2014 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing Execution of Supplemental Lease Agreement with United States of America (FAA)— Building 96, 138 Maine Avenue (Tax Map 001-096) Responsible Department: Community and Economic Development Commentary: This order will authorize a Supplemental Lease Agreement with the United States of America, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The City of Bangor leases office space at 138 Maine Ave (Building 96) to the FAA which expires on September 30, 2014. The FAA would like to continue to lease the office space and has proposed a temporary Supplemental Lease Agreement to extend the lease for two (2) years during which time the parties will negotiate a new lease. The Supplemental Lease Agreement also provides that the FAA will pay to the City the difference between the current rent and the new rent to be negotiated. This item was reviewed and -recommended for approval by the Business & Economic Development Committee at its August 5, 2014 meeting. Order, Authorizing Execution of Supplemental Lease Agreement with United States of America (FAA)— Building 96, 138 Maine Avenue (Tax Map 001-096) WHEREAS, the City of Bangor leases to the United States of America office space in Building 96 located at 138 Maine Avenue; and WHEREAS, the lease expires on September 30, 2014; and WHEREAS, the United States of America desires to continue to lease the office space; and WHEREAS, a Supplemental Lease Agreement will extend the lease for two (2) years during which time the parries will negotiate a new lease. BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Supplemental Lease Agreement between the City of Bangor and the United States of America to extend the term of the lease of office space in Building 96 at 138 Maine Avenue to October 1, 2016, and to provide that the rent increase in a lease to be negotiated shall be retroactive.
