Grant, #62 in the amount of $449,347 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $24,964 from the
Maine Department of Transportation.

Commentary: The airport is requesting authorization to apply, accept and appropriate a grant in the
of $449,347 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $24,964 from the Maine Department of
Transportation under the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program, grant # 62. The purpose of the
grant is to replace and install the runway weather information system (RWIS) at Bangor International
Airport which is used to monitor the surface conditions of airfield operational areas such as runways and
taxiways. The RWIS provides: (1) temperature and condition information of runway, taxiway, and ramp
pavements and (2) atmospheric weather information conditions that assist airport personnel to maintain
safer and more for efficient airport operations and maintenance. This project is included in BGR's FAA
approved five-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This grant will fund 90% of the project with the
additional 5% coming from the State and 5% coming from the airport.

in the amount of $449,347 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $24,964 from the Maine
Department of Transportation.
WHEREAS, The City's applications to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Maine Department of
Transportation for Airport Improvement Project grant funds for this project at Bangor
International Airport have been accepted, and the Federal Aviation Administratrion and the
State of Maine have agreed to provide the funding; and
WHEREAS, This project is included in the airports FAA approved five-year Capital Improvement Plan
(CIP); and
WHEREAS, Federal funds will cover 90% of the cost of the project with an additional 5.0% coming from
the State of Maine and 5.0% from the Airport.
BE ITRESOLVEDBYTHECITYCOUNCIL OF THE CI TY OFBANGOI, THAT
the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the grants from the Federal Aviation Administration and
the Maine Department of Transportation in the amount of $474,311 under the Airport Improvement Plan
(AIP) program, grant # 62 to replace and install the runway weather information system (RWIS) at
Bangor International Airport; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT
There is hereby appropriated within the Airport Fund the amount of $474,311 recognizing this federal
grant fund to be used for this project. The City Finance Director is hereby authorized to place this
amount within the appropriate accounts.
