Item/Subject: ORDER, Accepting a Portion of Map R8, Lots 6 and 66 as a Public Street and
Adding it to the Official City Map

Commentary: This Order will accept portions of Map R8, Lot 6, owned by the Bangor
Airport Civic Development Corporation, and of Map R8, Lot 6B, owned by the Bangor
Water District, as a public way. Both entities have agreed to transfer the portions of
the lots to the City of Bangor for the purpose of constructing a road.
As part of the approval conditions for a new quarry, the public way will be necessary to
facilitate the development of a portion of the Hirshorn lot, located on outer Hammond
Street. The developer has agreed to build a public road to City of Bangor standards. In
order for this new road to become a public right-of-way, it must be dedicated by the
City Council.
This item was reviewed by the Business and Economic Development Committee on May
20, 2014.

(TITLE.) ORDER, Accepting a Portion of Map R8, Lot 6 and 66 as a Public Street and Adding
it to the Official City Map
WHEREAS, the Bangor Airport Civic Development Corporation is owner of property known as
the Hirshhom Lot at Map R8, Lot 6 on the City of Bangor tax maps; and
WHEREAS, the Bangor Water District is owner of a lot adjacent to the Hirshhom Lot at Map R8,
Lot 6B on the City of Bangor tax maps; and
WHEREAS, in order to provide for access to and development of the Hirshhom Lot, the City of
Bangor wishes to dedicate a portion of these two lots as a public street; and
WHEREAS, the Bangor Airport Civic Development Corporation and the Bangor Water District
have transferred or offered to transferred said portion to the City so that the City may dedicate
the portion as a public street; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of Bangor to accept a portion of these two lots as a
public street.

ORDERED,
That pursuant to 23 M.R.S.A. §3022 and 23 M.R.S.A. §3025 a portion of Map R8, Lots 6 and 6B
as described on Exhibit A attached hereto and as depicted on Exhibit B attached hereto is
hereby accepted as a public way and street by the City of Bangor and is hereby added to the
Official City Map.

EXHIBIT A
A certain parcel of land, portions of which are situated on a lot now or formerly of Bangor
Airport Civic Development Corporation and described in a deed recorded at Book 9677, Page
334 of the Penobscot County Registry of Deeds, Penobscot County, Maine, and a portion of
which is situated on a lot now or formerly of the Bangor Water District and described in a deed
recorded at Book 1883, Page 170 of the Penobscot County Registry of Deeds, Penobscot
County, Maine. Said parcel is located northerly of Hammond Street in the City of Bangor,
Penobscot County, Maine and is more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the southwest comer of land now or formerly of Albion M. Dorr Jr., Map
R8, Lot 3 of the City of Bangor Tax Maps, recorded at the Penobscot Registry of Deeds Book
1655, page 14 and as shown on a plan entitled "Proposed Right of Way Plan for City of
Bangor," dated May 19, 2014, on file in the City of Bangor Engineering Department;
Thence S8310 01' 00" W by and along the northerly sideline of Hammond Street, Bangor, Maine,
a distance of 80.08' feet to a turning point; thence N0411 24' 58" W, a distance of 413.35' feet
to a turning point; thence N830 12' 36" E, a distance of 126.06' feet to a turning point; thence
S060 47' 24" E, a distance of 80' feet to a turning point; thence S83° 12' 36" W, a distance of
49.31' feet to a point at the northwest comer of said land now or formerly of Albion M. Dorr Jr.;
thence S040 24' 58" E, along the westerly lot line of said land now or formerly of Albion M. Dorr
Jr., a distance of 333.01' feet to the point of beginning.
The above described lot or parcel of land containing 0.85 acres, more or less, as shown on a
plan entitled "Proposed Right of Way Plan for City of Bangor," dated May 19, 2014, on file in
the City of Bangor Engineering Department, and being portions of Map R8, Lot 6 and Map R8,
Lot 6B of the City of Bangor tax maps.
