Responsible Department: Health and Community Services Commentary: This resolve will authorizing the City Manager to Accept and Appropriate $334,211 in Shelter Plus Care Funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. The purpose of this grant is to provide rental assistance for qualified individuals and families living in Penobscot County. Shelter Plus Care promotes housing stability by paying rent for homeless individuals and families. Each recipient is strongly encouraged and expected to have a case manager to assist him/her with life skills such as healthy living, financial literacy and employment. This is a five year grant, renewable each year. These funds were granted through the 2012 Maine Continuum of Care planning and selective competition process.
