On September 16, 2015, the City received one (1) bid from Maine Military Authority to acquire and rehabilitate 3 buses at an amount not to exceed $118,350 per bus. At that time it was anticipated the purchase would be funded in whole using State and Federal funds. Since then, there has been a reduction in available State funding, so the purchase would require approximately $21,000 of local funds or 5.5 % of the total cost. The remainder of the project will be funded with $321,843.15 in federal grant money and $36,000 in State Bond money. The estimated start date of this project is late October and completion would be no later than 12 months. This item was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Finance Committee on October 19, 2015. If recommended for passage, this item comes forward for Council action, as the contract award is over $100,000.
