Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing Application for and Acceptance of $23,865.00 in grant
funds as part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, which will be
shared with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department.

Commentary: This order authorizes the application for and acceptance of a $23,865 Edward Byrne
Memorial Grant to be shared with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department. Under the terms of the grant
the City would receive $13,885.77 in grant proceeds to administer the grant and for the purpose of
purchasing law enforcement related equipment to enhance the capabilities of the patrol division and Special
Response Team. There is no match required. This was reviewed and recommended for approval at the July
6, 2015 Government Operations Committee meeting.

part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, which will be shared
with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department.
By the City Council of the City of Bangor.
ORDERED, THAT the application by the City Manager for $23,865.00 in funds from the
Edgard Byrne Memorial Grant Program, of which $13,885.77 will be used by the Bangor
Police Department for the purchase of equipment and grant administration, and
$9,970.23 which will be awarded to the Penobscot County Sheriffs Department as
required by the grant, be ratified and that the grant funds in the amount of $23,865 be
accepted.
