If approved, this minor revision process would be modeled after a similar process that has been in place for historic properties for many years. Currently every project with an estimated cost of over $1,000, including new signs or changes to signs, on a property in the Bangor Center Revitalization Area must be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission, leading to delays on what are often very minor projects. As amended, this ordinance would allow issuance of permits without review by the full Commission if the Chair of the Commission, the Code Enforcement Officer, and the Planning Officer all approve. If any of the three do not approve, the project would go to the full Historic Preservation Commission for review.
