Item No. 16-053
Date: December 28, 2015
Item/Subject: Order, Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into a Contract with the Maine
Bureau of Highway Safety to Distribute Child Passenger Safety Seats to Qualified Individuals.
Responsible Department: Public Health & Community Services
Commentary: This Order would authorize a contract between the City and the State of Maine for
the distribution of child passenger safety seats. The Public Health & Community Services
Department would serve as a distribution site for child passenger safety seats from the Maine
Bureau of Highway Safety and qualified staff would provide education about correct installation of
the seats. This would take place at scheduled appointments at the Public Health and Community
Services Department at 103 Texas Ave. Currently, the nearest location for this service is the Town
of Lincoln. The contract term would be December 29, 2015 to February 28, 2018. This is considered
a public service. No State funds would be paid to the City.
This was reviewed and recommended for approval at the December 21, 2015 Finance Committee
meeting.
