Item No. 09 303
Date: September 30, 2009
Item/Subject: ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 265, Section 265-1 of the Code of Ordinances,
Solid Waste Collection and Disposal, to Require licensing of Municipal Solid Waste
Dumpster Providers
Responsible Department: Engineering Department
Commentary:
Solid Waste Haulers providing trash collection service in the City of Bangor are required to
obtain an annual haulers license from the City. The Ordinance also requires that acceptable
solid waste generated in Bangor be hauled to the PERC incinerator in Orrington and that such
waste be reported as generated in Bangor.
The attached Ordinance revision will require those providing or servicing dumpsters for waste
acceptable to PERC to secure a Solid Waste Haulers License.
