Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: In January 2009, ExxonMobil notified the City of Bangor of its intent to not renew its agreement to supply fuel to Bangor International Airport for an additional term effective July 31, 2009. The Airport operates the Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at the Airport and provides ground handling services, including fuel, to Airport customers. The FBO is the retail segment of the business which represents approximately one million gallons annually. Brand recognition is important in this area. Since Bangor International Airport has been an ExxonMobil location for 40 years, it will be beneficial to maintain the ExxonMobil brand for this business segment. This will provide continuity and will allow us to maintain our ExxonMobil signage, uniforms, and marketing materials. Western Petroleum is the sole distributor for ExxonMobil. They have provided a competitive proposal for this service. This Order will authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Western Petroleum in a form reviewed and approved by the City Solicitor. Rebecca Hupp Department Head Manager's Comments: This has been reviewed by the Business and Economic Development Committee and in Council workshops and is recommended for approval.
