Item No. 0 9 13 33
Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the Parks and Recreation Department to Proceed with the
Paul Bunyan Statue Painting and Restoration Project
Responsible Department: Parks and Recreation
Commentary:
The Parks and Recreation Department has recently been approached by a group of individuals
who are interested in repainting and restoring the Paul Bunyan Statue on Main Street. The last
significant repainting effort on the Statue was approximately ten years ago. The group of
interested individuals includes several who were involved with the last repainting project,
including Normand Martin. The group will work in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation
Department and has expressed a willingness to seek donations to help cover project costs, if
necessary.
This Order would provide for the project to proceed and outlines various conditions and
understandings. The Government Operations Committee reviewed and recommended approval
of this project at its March 29th meeting.
