The grant funds are available to provide overtime reimbursement as a means to increase enforcement efforts related to the purpose of the respective grant. Although we may not apply for the full allowable amount of each respective grant, I request authorization to apply for up to the maximum amount. Actual amounts for which we apply will be determined as we complete the application process. The deadline for application for OUI enforcement funding is April 10, 2009, although notification of the funding was not released until March 20, 2009. We have been advised that the application period for the Speed Enforcement grant and the Seatbelt Enforcement grant will be within the next several weeks. Because we anticipate that we will have only a short application period for those grants also, I am requesting authorization to apply for all three grants at this time.
