As a Certified Local Government, the City of Bangor is eligible to receive federal funding through Maine Historic Preservation. In January, we were notified by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission that we are eligible to receive $10,980 to produce educational materials about the City's historic properties and preservation ordinance. The matching portion of the grant will be provided through the work of the local Commission Members and the staff of the Code Enforcement Office Department Head Manager's Comments: This has been reviewed and is recommended by the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. ORDER, Authorizing Applying for and Accepting a Grant from Maine Historic Preservation — Production of an Educational Brochure on Bangor's Historic Preservation Program WHEREAS, the State of Maine through Maine Historic Preservation makes grant funds available to Certified Local Government Historic Preservation Programs for educational and outreach programs; and WHEREAS, the City's Historic Preservation Commission wishes to apply for grant funding to develop an educational brochure specific to Bangor's Historic preservation efforts; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT the City Manager and/or the Code Enforcement Officer are herby authorized to apply for and accept a grant of 10,980 to create educational materials to further the goals and objectives of Bangor's Historic Preservation Program and Historic Preservation Commission.
