Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing Applying for and Accepting a Grant from Maine Historic
Preservation — Production of an Educational Brochure on Bangor's historic
preservation Program
Responsible Department: Code Enforcement
Commentary:
Recently, staff and the Historic Preservation Commission held discussions about their outreach and
educational role outlined in the City's Historic Preservation Ordinance. As a Certified Local
Government, the City of Bangor is eligible to receive federal funding through Maine Historic
Preservation. In January, we were notified by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission that we
are eligible to receive $10,980 to produce educational materials about the City's historic properties
and preservation ordinance. The matching portion of the grant will be provided through the work of
the local Commission Members and the staff of the Code Enforcement Office
