Responsible Department: Airport Commentary: The Federal Aviation Administration currently leases space from the Airport in Building #96 and desires to renew the agreement for an additional five year term. This area is used as administrative office space for the FAA Airways Facilities Division. These employees maintain the Airport's FAA owned navigational equipment. The general terms of the lease will remain unchanged. The Airport will rent 7,500 square feet to the FAA at a rate of $11.85 per square foot. This covers the Airport's cost for the building and operating expenses. The lease will be in a standardized format used for all federal agencies and will be reviewed and approved by City Legal. ORDER, Authorizing the Airport to Enter into a Lease Agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration for Space in Building #96 at Bangor International Airport. WHEREAS, The Federal Aviation Administration currently leases space in Building #96 at Bangor International Airport; and WHEREAS, the current lease is scheduled to terminate, and the FAA has expressed an interest in entering into a new lease; and WHEREAS, the Airport and the Federal Aviation Administration have reached agreement on the terms and conditions for a new lease; and WHEREAS, the agreed to terms and conditions are similar to those of the current lease while recognizing necessary lease rate increases associated With higher building occupancy costs; and WHEREAS, FAA's presence at Bangor International Airport is necessary and'essential for the operation of the airport's air navigational aids; and WHEREAS, the Airport will recover all costs associated with providing this space to the FAA; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR, that the Airport is authorized to enter into a lease agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration in a form acceptable to the City Solicitor or the Assistant City Solicitor.
