Item No. 0
Date: January 26, 2009
Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the Airport to enter into a Contract with Jacobs Engineering
for Engineering Services for the Design of the Cargo Aircraft Parking Apron in
the Amount of $172,368.
Responsible Department: Airport
Commentary:
This is the area used to park transient aircraft, located between the International Arrivals Building and
the Joint Use Aircraft Parking Apron. This is the original pavement and needs to be replaced. This project
has been included in the Airport's five year capital improvement plan which was submitted to the FAA.
Under this program, the FAA will fund 95% of the project, the state will fund 2.5% and the remaining
2.5% will be funded using Airport revenues. The construction of this project may be eligible for
discretionary funding if an FAA Authorization / Economic Stimulus Package is passed this year.
Jacobs Engineering, formerly Edwards and Kelcey, was awarded the engineering contract for all Airport
Improvement Program projects at the Airport through a request for proposals process. The contract price of
$172,368 has been reviewed by an independent engineer for financial reasonableness and falls within the
guidelines established by the FAA. This item will be reimbursable under the Airport Improvement Program
Grant.
