Item No. 10, 3 5 8
Date: October 25, 2010
Item/Subject: ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 134, General Assistance Program, of the
Code of the City of Bangor, By Increasing the Maximum Amount of Assistance
for a Burial Liner
Responsible Department: Health and Community Services
Commentary:
The City's General Assistance ordinance provides for the burial of indigent persons if the burial
costs cannot be paid from any other source. Burial costs may include the purchase of a vault
liner. This ordinance change would increase the maximum amount to be paid for a liner from
$345 to $550, reflecting the increased cost of these liners. This change will not increase the
total maximum allowable burial cost of $1,340.
