Item No. 10 a,.' 5 ti
Date: July 12, 2010
Item/Subject: Ordinance, Amending Schedule VI of Chapter 291, Article III, Sec. 40 of the
Code of the City of Bangor — Parking for Persons with Disabilities — Forest
Avenue and French Street
Responsible Department: Police Department
Commentary:
Currently there are 2 handicap parking spaces located on Abraham Lincoln School property near
the back entrance of the building. The back entrance, as well as all other entrances, is now kept
locked for security reasons. The two current spaces are also very inconspicuous and anyone
unfamiliar with the building would not be aware of their location.
Access by the public is via the main entrance on Forest Ave. A camera and buzzer system are in
place at that entrance.
For the foregoing reasons, the attached schedule change would establish a handicap spot on
Forest Avenue.
The schedule change also corrects an unrelated error made several years ago which mistakenly
added an entry dealing with the Downtown Parking Management District map to the text of
Schedule IV. That change deletes the section in question.
