Commentary:
The City Council has expressed a desire that a staff person be added to the Community
and Economic Development Department with the responsibility of establishing and
maintaining business and development relationships in order to increase commercial
development in the City of Bangor.
This Resolve expresses the Council's intent that when a new City Manager is hired he or
she work with the Director of Community and Economic Development to hire an
individual to work in the Community and Economic Development Department for the
purpose of increasing business and economic development. The City Manager and
Director of Community and Economic Development will consider funding options to pay
for the position, including using funds from the undesignated reserve fund. The Resolve
also expresses the Council's general intent that recruitment for the position begin after
January 1, 2011.

CITY OF BANGOR
(TITLE.) Resolve, Supporting Hiring an Economic Development Department Employee for
Business and Community Relations
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Bangor to increase commercial activity and
create jobs; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of Bangor to hire an employee to develop and grow
mutually beneficial business and economic relationships to increase commercial growth; and
WHEREAS, there is interest by the Council to move forward with hiring such an employee
following the hiring of a new City Manager.
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR:
BE IT RESOLVED,
That the City Manager to be hired by the Bangor City Council shall work with the Director of
Community and Economic Development to hire an individual to work in the Community and
Economic Development Department for the purpose of increasing business and economic
development. The City Manager and Director of Community and Economic Development shall
consider all options to fund the position, including using funds from the undesignated reserve
fund. Given budgetary constraints, it is the general intent of the Council that recruitment for the
position begins after January 1, 2011.
