Item/Subject: Order: Authorizing the Interim City Manager to Apply for $29,947 in Grant Funds
as Part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program

Commentary:
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Department and the Bangor Police Department have received
notification that $29,947 is available through the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program. This grant
requires that these two agencies share the grant. $598.94 will be provided to the Bangor Police
Department for administering the grant and the remaining $29,348.06 will be divided evenly
between the agencies. The Bangor Police Department intends to use the $15,272.97 to provide law
enforcement training to its employees. There is no match required.

ORDERED, THAT: the Assistant City Manager be authorized to apply for $29,947
in funds from the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, of which $15, 272.97 will be
used by the Bangor Police Department for employee training, and $14,674.03 will be
awarded to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department as required by the grant.
