Item/Subject: Order: Authorizing the Interim City Manager to apply for and accept up to $7500
in funds as part of the Department of Health and Human Services Office of
Substance Abuse 2010 Strategic Underage Drinking Enforcement Grant
Responsible Department: Police
Commentary: The Maine Department of Health and Human Services Office of Substance
Abuse is providing grant funding opportunities for Maine law enforcement agencies to enhance
and promote enforcement efforts related to underage drinking in their respective communities.
Permissible uses of the funding are for reimbursement of overtime costs associated with
enforcement details designed to target underage drinking; compliance checks on establishments
that serve and sell alcohol; holding regular meetings between law enforcement and community
partners, school officials, parent groups etc., and costs associated with training.

(TITLE.) ORDER, Authorizing the Interim City Manager to Apply for and Accept up to
$7,500 in Funds as Part of the Department of Health and Human Services Office of
Substance Abuse 2010 Strategic Underage Drinking Enforcement Grant
By the City Council of the City of Bangor -
ORDERED, THAT: the Interim City Manager be authorized to apply for and accept up to
$7,500 in funds from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Substance
Abuse 2010 Strategic Underage Drinking enforcement Grant to be used by the Police
Department to enhance and promote enforcement efforts related to underage drinking.
Funds will be used to for reimbursement of overtime costs associated with enforcement
details designed to target underage drinking, including compliance checks on
establishments that serve and sell alcohol and education and training efforts.
