$29,947 in grant funds as part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program,
which will be shared with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Department

Commentary:
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Department and the Bangor Police Department have received notification that
$29,947 has been awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program. This grant requires that
these two agencies share the grant. $598.94 will be provided to the Bangor Police Department for
administering the grant and the remaining $29,348.06 will be divided evenly between the agencies. The
Bangor Police Department intends to use the $15,272.97 to provide law enforcement training to its
employees. There is no match required.

BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR:
BE IT RESOLVED, $29,947 in funds from the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program be
accepted and appropriated for the following purposes: $14,674.03 will be delivered to the
Penobscot County Sheriff's Office as required by the grant, and the remaining $15,272.97 will
be used by the Bangor Police Department for local training and training requiring travel.
