HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-05-10 10-166 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 10 J CG Date: May 10, 2010 Item/Subject: Order — Accepting and Appropriating up to $10,000 in Funds from the State of Maine Bureau of Highway Safety for the Purpose of Increasing Seatbelt, Speed, and OUI Enforcement Efforts Responsible Department: Police Commentary: The State of Maine Bureau of Highway Safety has notified the Police Department that funds are available for use by the Department for increased seatbelt enforcement, speed enforcement, and OUI enforcement efforts. The grant calls for stepped up enforcement of seatbelt violations, typically for a two week period in May, and speed enforcement and OUI enforcement during the summer months. The City will be reimbursed for overtime when officers are specifically assigned to enforcement details pursuant to the requirements of the grant.
