Commentary:
The Code of the City of Bangor provides for a Harbor Advisory Committee. The Harbor Advisory
Committee does not have any associate members.
This Ordinance amendment will add two associate members to the Committee.

(TITLE.) Ordinance, Amending Chapter 140, § 140-3 of the Code of the City of Bangor to
Add Associate Membership to the Harbor Advisory Committee.
WHEREAS, the Code of the City of Bangor provides for a Harbor Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Code of the City of Bangor does not provide for associate membership on the Harbor
Advisory Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR THAT,
Chapter 140, § 140-3 of the Code of the City of Bangor is amended as follows:
§ 140-3. Harbor Advisory Committee.
A. A Harbor Advisory Committee shall consist of five members and two associate members
appointed by the City Council. One of the members shall be a City Councilor, and the other four
members shall be from the public at large, composed of three persons having an interest and
knowledge of recreational boating and one person having a direct connection with the downtown
business community. The associate members shall be persons having an interest and knowledge of
recreational boating. The City Manager or his or her designee and the Harbor Master shall serve as ex
officio members. All appointed members shall serve three-year terms. The initial term for one
associate member shall be for a three-year term the initial term for the second associate members
shall be for a two-year term. The Chair of the Committee shall designate which associate member
shall vote in the stead of an absent member.
