HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-04-12 10-140 RESOLVECOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 10 140 Date: 4/12/2010 Item/Subject: Resolve, Appropriating $30,000 in Local Matching Funds to Rehabilitate Four Buses Responsible Department: BAT Commentary: The Fleet Maintenance Division has determined that four buses are in need of rehabilitation in order for them to pass upcoming state inspections. We have received notification from Maine Department of Transportation that funding in the amount of $120,000 is available to rehab these vehicles. The total cost of rehabilitation is estimated to be $150,000., with $120,000 in grant funding and a required 20% local match in the amount of $30,000. This local match will be split amongst the various communities as follows; Bangor ($21,000), VOOT ($4,500), Hampden ($1,500) and Brewer ($3,000). The attached resolve will appropriate each community's local share. Bangor's local share of the funding will be transferred from the Bus Replacement Reserve. VOOT's and Hampden's share of the funding will be transferred from the Trust & Agency Reserve accounts. Brewer's share will be billed separately. All accounts have adequate funding available. Resolve, Appropriating $30,000 in Local Matching Funds to Rehabilitate Four Buses By the City Council of the City of Bangor. WHEREAS, the City has received notification of availability and award of $120,000 in Maine Department of Transportation Grant Funding to provide 80% of the funding to rehabilitate four buses; and WHEREAS, the Grant requires a 20% local match; NOW THEREFORE BE U RESOLVED THAT $30,000 in local funding be appropriated for the 20% match necessary to fully fund the total cost of the rehabilitation to the four buses. Bangor's share ($21,000) is authorized to be appropriated from the Bus Replacement Reserve; VOOT's share ($4,500) is authorized to be appropriated from the Trust and Agency Account (600-20309020); Hampden's share ($1,500) is authorized to be appropriated from the Trust and Agency Account (600-20309015) and Brewer's share ($3,000) will be accepted and appropriated.
