Item/Subject: Resolve, Appropriating $30,000 in Local Matching Funds to Rehabilitate Four
Buses
Responsible Department: BAT
Commentary:
The Fleet Maintenance Division has determined that four buses are in need of rehabilitation in
order for them to pass upcoming state inspections. We have received notification from Maine
Department of Transportation that funding in the amount of $120,000 is available to rehab these
vehicles. The total cost of rehabilitation is estimated to be $150,000., with $120,000 in grant
funding and a required 20% local match in the amount of $30,000. This local match will be split
amongst the various communities as follows; Bangor ($21,000), VOOT ($4,500), Hampden
($1,500) and Brewer ($3,000).
The attached resolve will appropriate each community's local share. Bangor's local share of the
funding will be transferred from the Bus Replacement Reserve. VOOT's and Hampden's share of
the funding will be transferred from the Trust & Agency Reserve accounts. Brewer's share will
be billed separately. All accounts have adequate funding available.
