Responsible Department: Legal Commentary: Historically, the police department has allowed vehicles with handicapped registration plates or placards to park for twice the proscribed time limit before issuing a parking ticket. This is done regardless of whether or not the vehicle is in a handicapped parking space. This recognizes that some people with disabilities may have mobility issues and is designed to give them more time to get to and from their destination. This Ordinance amendment will make that policy part of the City's parking ordinances. Department Head Manager's Comments: This has received preliminary review by the Government Operations Committee, which recommended approval. uz/ 9MXL City Manager Associated Information: Budget Approval: Finance Director Legal Approval: City Solicitor Introduced for _ Passage X First Reading Page _ of _ — Referral 10 ,01.0 _9 Assigned to Councilor -Wheeler November 9, 2009 CITY OF BANGOR ATED,F (TITLE.)
