HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-06-27 16-264 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 16-264 Date: June 27, 2016 Item/Subject: ORDER, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Bangor Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 772 Responsible Department: Executive Commentary: This Order would approve a collective bargaining agreement between the City and the Bangor Firefighters Association, representing approximately 92 employees at Bangor Fire Department. Negotiations between the city and the union have resulted in a Tentative Agreement which has recently been ratified by union membership. The Agreement has been negotiated within the bargaining guidelines previously discussed with the City Council and includes the following: a three year term from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018; wage increases of 0% year one, 1.25 % year two, and 1.5% year three; an adjustment to the established pay scales by adding a new step effective July 1, 2017; revised private service detail rates, educational incentive pay rates, and EMS duty weekly stipends; updated health insurance rates and associated date changes; a reduction in the minimum call in time for calculating overtime pay; updated side -letters and policies; and various housekeeping changes. The Tentative Agreement was reviewed with the City Council in Executive Session on June 13, 2016 and it is presented with the recommendation of the City's Management Negotiation Committee. ORDERED, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Bangor and Bangor Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 772 for a term commencing July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018 in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Tentative Agreement reached between the Negotiating Committees representing the City and the Union.
